Visceral Mobilization is an osteopathic technique that addresses the organ systems of the body.
This form of therapy is ideally suited for those who have had trauma to their body, postural imbalances or recurrent pain. With trauma, illness or postural stresses the organs of the body can become compressed or shift their preferred position. This can produce stiffness, pain and can also contribute to a ‘protected’ posture. The organs of the body can also produce what is known as referral pain.

How does this technique work?
By reducing the spasms of arteries and viens of the organ being treated, circulation is rebalanced. Releasing restrictions of the connective tissue envelope around the organ, posture can be reclaimed. This may also improve the physiological function of the organ.

What can you expect as a client?
You will lie on the treatment table clothed and the therapist will place their hands on the region to be treated. You may also be placed in various positions to facilitate the release. This therapy works well with cranial therapy, muscle energy technique and Neural Tissue Tension.
